The Pre-conference day was spent in a visit to Allan Gibb's magnificent Sculpture Farm north of Auckland.
Of particular interest was a very large tension fabric structure by Anish Kapour that sliced through a ridge on the farm. The form was defined by two ellipses. One one side of the ridge the major axis of the ellipse (formed by a curved tubular steel pipe) was orientated in a vertical direction whilst on the other side the major axis was horizontal.
