eNewsletter 2016 V1N2 Save the Date

LSAA is pleased to announce that we will be conducting a two day conference, to be held in Melbourne, Victoria from Thursday 1 to Friday 2 September 2016.

The theme for this conference is ‘Design Beyond the Boundaries of Architects or Engineers'  incorporating a Design Awards competition with the presentation of the awards being included in the Conference Dinner.  

LSAA will be reflecting on the inspiration and contributions of Frei Otto who perhaps more than anyone did challenge the design boundaries of what is possible.

He is regarded as the father of lightweight structures and many regarded him as both a brilliant engineer and architect. READ MORE

The Lightweight Structures Association of Australasia (LSAA) is a not for profit Association for members with a passion for designing, fabricating, constructing and supplying materials and components for a range of lightweight structures.

LSAA 2016 is an International conference and is part of a series of bi-annual conferences, which commenced with the international conference on lightweight structures LSA86 and again as LSAA98, held in Sydney. Preceeding and recent events have been very successful at attracting the cream of architects, engineers, contractors and material suppliers involved in lightweight structures across Australia, New Zealand and Overseas.

Design Awards:

The held over Design Awards are a major feature of the Conference Dinner. For the first time the new "International Category" (for LSAA members and non-members)  plus, a section for "Personal Lifetime Achievement Awards" for financial LSAA members. The Program Committee are working hard to provide you with a professional and exciting two day conference in 2016. The program will be available on the website in the coming weeks, and we will let you know when it is there.

Call for Papers and Presentations:

The call for Papers and Presentations is now open.

The 2016 Theme allows us to consider a wider range of contributions. These range from a major Keynote paper and presentation, through paper/presentations on major projects to short project summaries and contributions to be part of a number of selected panels. For example, we plan to have a panel that will reflect on and compare the impact of Frei Otto on their thinking and work.
